If this guy has anything to do with it it’ll be gaudy and disgusting as the recently made medallions were. It would be a shame to see the classic Raymond Loewy design gone.

To be honest, it’s tiring that things like this are considered “sacred”. Why not update the look? Why not give a current designer a shot at it? Because you assume it will be gaudy because D RUMPF. I have a feeling he’s not going to have much say in this personally, other than to approve a design change.

I’m sure that if you gave it to an experienced designer it would be a positive thing to update it, but I’m afraid that Bossman will have too much influence over who does it and that he’ll have additional demands and corrections. I’m a designer myself and I know that when a client starts messing with the design it can sometimes turn out as something completely incoherent and different to the original proposal.

You don’t need to have an opinion on his politics to look round the various Trump assets and businesses and realiz e the guy’s tastes don’t run to “ subtle update on iconic look” .

Yeah the man loves gold (guuulllllddddd) but the article says a touch of red and no eagles. If we were going full Americana it would be screaming eagles, explosions, lazers, giant pickup truck, keg of beer - but no gold.

Not sure it gets more experienced than Raymond Loewy, with JFK’s help. It’s sacred because it’s been an emblem of America for nearly 60 years. Kinda like saying we should find a new national animal, or a new flag.

K nowing Trump, it’s a domestic distraction tactic from him being an asshat at NATO, pissing off the UK and probably selling out the Ukraine to Putin.

If Barak Obama, Bill Clinton or honestly even GW Bush, all seemingly men of at least reasonable taste(especially Obama), were overseeing a redesign I’d actually be interested/excited to see the result.

Have you seen Trump do a single thing ever with even a hint of taste? It’ll be ghastly if he gets any say at all . Which he will. Because he’s president and he’ll be much more interested in finding a way to put some gilding onto Air Force One than doing anything resembling real work.
